INTRODUCTION
The family unit is the most important fibre in the society. Even when Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden, they were chased as ONE, they were not separated. The sanctity of marriage MUST BE ESTEEMED BY ALL AND SUNDRY. The best fun should be in marriage. Young people should aspire to succeed in their single life, for they see success, joy and goodness in successful marriages! Yes they would keep themselves holy till they are given in marriage during their wedding day! Let us build successful families that people would want to emulated.
1. HUSBAND IS THE HEAD OF THE FAMILY. The husband is the head of the family. He has absolute power and authority of his household. Ephesians 5:23. No wife should usurp her husband’s authority. Read Timothy 2:12-14. It woman who came from man and not man from woman! See Genesis 2.
2. HUSBAND LOVE YOUR WIVE. Husbands love your wives as yourselves – Ephesians 5:25, 28-29; Colossians 3:19; 1 Peter 3:7.
3. MAN TO SUPPLY THE NEEDS OF HIS FAMILY. It all started in the Garden of Eden. READ Genesis 3:17-19. Any man who doesn’t supply the needs of his family is worse than a non-believer. SEE 1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an INFIDEL.
4. MAN WHO GETS A GOOD WIFE HAS FOUND GRACE IN EYES OF THE LORD. Yes getting a good wife is a wonderful thing. See Proverbs 18:22. Proverbs 19:14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD. A bad wife is rottenness to bones and is simply terrible. SEE Proverbs 12:4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
5. WIFE SUBMIT TO YOUR HUSBAND. Wives should submit and obey their husbands as head of the family. Ephesians 5:22; Colossians 3:18; 1 Peter 3:5-6; Esther 1:20.
6. WOMAN TO BE ACTIVE. SHE SHOULD BE KEEPER AT HOME. Titus 2:3-8. This is important. Even if she is a working wife, when she gets home, it’s her responsibility to see to it that things are running smoothly. If there’s a maid, never allow her to cook and serve your husband. This is your ABSOLUTE responsibility. Never allow another woman to take care of your husband at home! The elderly woman (who have succeeded in their marriages), should teacher the younger women (recently married) to take note of this!
7. A WIFE SHOULD BE A VIRTUOUS WOMAN LIKE THE ONE ON PROVERBS CHAPTER 31.
8. A WOMAN BUILDS OR DESTROYS HER HOME. A foolish woman has the ability to destroy her home. A wise woman builds it. READ Proverbs 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
9. PASSIONATELY ENJOINED. Husband and wife should be perfectly ENJOINED as one. Genesis 2:24; Malachi 2:14-17; Matthew 19:6; 10:9; Ephesians 5:30-31
10. MAN AND WIVE MUST RENDER TO EACH OTHER’S NEEDS. Husband and wife must completely surrender to each other. Offer total satisfaction of each other’s companionship needs, psychological needs, spiritual needs and physical needs – 1 Corinthians 7:3-5.
11. LET HUSBAND AND WIFE BE FULLY SATISFIED WITH EACH OTHER. Husband and wife should be satisfied with each other. Not by any other – Proverbs 5:15-19.
12. NO ADULTERY. NO FORNICATION. When the two are married, they should seek no other partners. They are one. Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.; READ ALSO 1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.; Proverbs 6:23-35; Proverbs 7:5-19, 21-27; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20.
13. ADULTERY IS MORE THAN A SEX. If a man looks at woman and desires her, he has committed adultery with her. This goes to the woman too. Read Matthew 5:28. So we should take heed since no adulterer or adulteress will enter the Kingdom. READ Revelation 22:14-15.
14. BEAR CHILDREN. Wives note. It’s your responsibility to bear children. And if you keep faith and raise your children well, you will inherit the Kingdom of Elohim. SEE 1 Timothy 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
15. HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGES STRICTLY FORBIDDEN BY THE BIBLE. In the Bible, it is strictly forbidden for man to take another man as a wife or for a woman to take another woman as a wife. SEE Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Genesis 19:5; Judges 19:22; 1 Timothy 1:10; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Kings 14:24.
16. CHILDREN OBEY YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER. Marriage leads to children. These children should totally obey their parents with all gravity. Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.; Ephesians 6:1-3; Colossians 3:20. They should honour both father and mother!
17. LAST DAYS CHILDREN WON’T OBEY PARENTS. One of the characteristics of the last days is that children won’t honour their parents; 2 Timothy 3:1-2.
18. PARENTS OFFER THE ROD OF CORRECTION TO YOUR CHILDREN. Children cannot be left to grow at their own designs. Parents have to raise their children in right way and they SHOULD NOT SPARE THEIR ROD READ Proverbs 22:6, 15; Proverbs 13:24; Proverbs 23:13-14; Proverbs 29:15.
19. FINAL WORD. Father, have interest in growing up of your children. Follow them up as they grow up. Pay their bills. Supply all their needs. If your wife works, consolidate your income and use it as one! Never leave your wife to take care of your children on her own! Follow their education. Go to school and chat with their teachers. Discipline them accordingly. Be PRESENT AND FIND TIME. Mother, nurture your children. Ensure as the children grow to recognize their father’s authority. Never endear yourself with the children in a way to show them that you matter to them more than their father. Malachi 4:6.
20. SOME STORY. There’s a story of a daughter who travelled to America from Kenya. She succeeded in her life. One time she came home with many goodies for the mother and nothing for the father. The mother was a wise woman. She told that she did well to buy her those goodies BUT AT she would only accept them if she bought her goodies too. Yes! The man and wife are ONE. They need to be honored equally.

22. There you have it. The Family unit, the position of the husband, the virtuous and wise wife and their wonderful obedient children. Be blessed as you pursue to build the family unit.
